Ireland is a country in North-Western Europe.
The Capital is Dublin.
The official languages are Irish and English.
The Government is Republic and Parliamentary.
The Independence from the United Kingdom was declared on 24 April 1916, but it was recognised on 6 December 1922.
The official currency is the Euro (€).Its economy is small, modern and dependent on industry and investment.
The Republic of Ireland joined the EU on 1 January 1973.
The local temperate climate is modified by the North Atlantic Current and is relatively mild, and the precipitation is very common.
The Republic of Ireland traditionally had twenty-six counties, and these are still used in cultural and sporting contexts. They are: Dublin, Wicklow, Wexford, Carlow, Kildare, Meath, Louth, Monaghan, Cavan, Longford, Westmeath, Offaly, Laois, Kilkenny, Waterford, Cork, Kerry, Limerick, Tipperary, Clare, Galway, Mayo, Roscommon, Sligo, Leitrim, and Donegal.
The most important cities are: Dublin, Cork, Galway, Limerick and Waterford.

Ireland is known for its Irish Traditional Music, but there are also other international artists: U2, Green Day, The Coors, Enya and Sinead O’ Connor.
U2 the most successful Irish band of all time and one of the biggest bands internationally since the 1980s.
The most famous and popular sports in Ireland are: Gaelic Football, Hurling, Rugby, Athletics and Cricket.
The two most famous drinks are: Whisky and Guinness Beer.
